Hi! I'm Larry Volz.
You can call me Doc.

TLDR;

It's a nickname I go by. There's a story to that I'll tell you later

Quick synopsis: I'm an international magic champion , award-winning comedy hypnotist, mentalist, escape room designer/inventor, software designer and hypnotherapist with more degrees than a thermometer and some of them are even legit.

AKA: real-life mad-scientist.

I call myself an imaginologist and I have turned adult A.D.D. into an art form!

Comedy Hypnosis Show

A big hit at colleges and larger theaters has always been my comedy hypnosis show. I have performed it on cruise ships, on television and have been a regular on campuses with it for decades. It's an award-winning show that I have even done for international audiences through a translator!

Off-stage I help people with hypnosis for therapy and TRAIN professional hypnotherapists for over 20 years. So what I do here is very real and very safe.

...and VERY FUNNY!

Volunteers in my show are hypnotized to believe they are experiencing bizarre, impossible things and react as they would in those situations. What is so beautiful and funny about these surreal sketches is that people show their true personalities -- often a side of themselves you might not otherwise ever see. Volunteers are never embarassed - but leave stage feeling good about themselves and an amazing experience.

The show is 60-75 minutes and is best suited to audiences of more than 250 people. It is sqeaky-clean unless a risque show is specifically requested.

Mad Science & Medicine Show

One of my more popular shows is my Magical, Mad Science and Medicine Show. It's a ridiculous romp through con-artistry with fantastic visual magic cleverly disguised as "inventions." I play a costumed character (either modern, steampunk, atompunk or renaissance era depending on venue) that's about as mad a scientist as you can get.

It's suitable for families and yet somehow I get away with spurting "blood" all over the place. It's probably because the whole time I am narrating "c'mon people -- it's just cheerwine - corn syrup and food coloring." Kids usually end up laughing at the adults who are more squeamish than they are.

That character is also great as an M.C. or can fill any stage with laughter for 20-45 minutes.

Doc Volz's Illusion & Invention Extravaganza

This is my grand illusion show similar to what I did on cruise ships for over a decade. It's filled with a similar but modern version of the same basic character... ie, the real me.

But that also has a whole 'nother level of spectacle & wonder. I bring along one or more of my brilliant and beautiful helpers who add to the show with their own novel talents and that I will abuse as we magicians are wont to do. I'll cut a poor soul in half as audience members hold her down. I may shove spears through someone in a tiny little pyramid. Or I may surprise you with all kinds of other amazing feats during a whole evening of imaginology.

This show can be 60-90 minutes in length.

Credits, Background & reviews

I have had the honor of performing for millions of people on television with Lance Burton and Penn & Teller on The Animal Planet's "Guerilla Magic" where I enjoyed making a six month old white tiger appear in the middle of the street in Las Vegas while surrounded by surprised tourists.

I performed on international TV on the top two rated episodes of the #1 rated TV program in Japan "Tunnes No Minesaka" where I hypnotized 12 Japanese celebrities through a translator.

For 10 years I was regularly booked on cruise lines including Holland America, Princess, Radisson Seven Seas, Premier, Cunard and Celebrity.

I have performed for small theaters, comedy clubs, corporate events and even enormous stadium shows like when I got to open for Randy Travis in front of a roaring crowd of 45,000 people!

And now I'm ready to perform for YOU!

Give me a call. 804-882-1951 or drop me a line here: imaginologist@gmail.comYou don't have to have 45,000 people or a fortune to book me. We just need a conversation. I'll even wear a mask. Over Zoom. You can't be too careful.

Thanks!
